Getting Started With YouTube
In this lesson you're going to create a YouTube channel and post a video to YouTube. In the last lesson, you created your first video, and now we're going to take that video and upload it.
Before we begin, you need to create a fresh YouTube account. To do that, go to YouTube and click the sign in/create account button.
To create your channel, click the "My Channel" link. You will see a window like this:
Click the "To use a business or other name, click here." link. Then enter the name of your channel.
This is an SEO tactic just like your domain name, how you have your keyword in your URL. You want to include your keyword in your channel as well. I'm going to go after "Skin Tag Removal" and I will select the "Other" option because it doesn't fit in any of the other categories. Agree to the Pages Terms and then click "Done." And there you have it; the channel is now created.
The benefit of creating a channel is that every time you comment on a video or post your own, it's going to further enhance the SEO of your entire channel.
Once your channel is created, you're now going to upload your first video.
Uploading Your Video
Click the "Upload" box at the top of the page. Then click where it says "Select files to upload" and choose your video file.
Now we're going to enter the title of the video. If you remember the keywords that you are going after, you're going to enter them in the video title. For my video, I chose to use the title: "Skin Tag Removal: 3 Home Skin Tag Treatments That Work Fast." I then worked the article title into the video title.
For the description, you're going to enter your website URL and include a quick call to action. For example:
http://www.BanishSkinTags.com Click here for a very fast working home treatment that can get rid of skin tags in weeks.
You can see in this sentence that I've tried to include a few extra keywords as well. To optimize this further, you should go on and write a 300 to 400 word article and paste it underneath of your call to action. This will increase both your YouTube and Google search traffic. You literally just take an article and paste it in the description.
The tags are very important. You will want to include all of the keywords that you want to target. For example: skin tag, skin tag removal, skin tag treatment, skin tag treatments, get rid of skin tags, skin tag home treatments, cure skin tags, armpit skin tags, neck skin tags, hand skin tags, skin tag remedy, skin tag home remedy, remove skin tags, skin tags
DO NOT SKIP THE TAGS. THEY ARE INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT.
The third crucial piece of making a successful video is selecting the right video thumbnail.
Unfortunately, when you create a new account, you're not able to specify what thumbnail you want to use. YouTube will just randomly select images from your video. That is why I like to include different images in the slides so one of those will randomly get selected.
Picking A Thumbnail
I usually try to pick an image that's the nastiest looking one. Someone is going to see a very small thumbnail, and they're going to be compelled to click it to see the larger image. You want them to be curious. When they're curious, they're going to click your video and watch it. This is going to help you get more views, more traffic, better rankings, etc. So this is very, very important. You want a thumbnail that people are going to click on.
Once you've selected the thumbnail, click "Publish."
Review
The video just gives some basic information, some tips, then the call to action to go to your website. The call to action is both in the video and in the description.
If you're wondering how many people will sit through the video and actually click through to your website, you're looking at, on average, 7% to 10%. That's a pretty standard figure across the board from my personal testing. I've tried this in a bunch of different niches, and that's the percentage I can get to click through. Now ten percent doesn't seem like a lot, but that 10% is highly qualified, highly targeted traffic, so they're going to be hot buyers.
In the next lesson, I'm going to show you how to further tweak your videos and how to start getting traffic and views.
This seems like a lot of work, but it gets a lot easier from here on out. You've already created your site and now you've uploaded your first video. The advantage is this video will get traffic for years and years to come. There are videos I've uploaded over five years ago that are still getting traffic. So don't look at this as something you'll have to do every day. You just need 3 to 5 solid videos per niche, and you will have everything you need to earn money for years to come.
