Accessing The Admin Area
In this section I'm going to show you how to do basic WordPress optimization in under 60 seconds. Now when people hear the word "optimization," they sometimes start freaking out. But don't worry, it's not that hard.
To get started, you're going to have to login into the Admin Area of WordPress to access the Dashboard. Usually the URL for this address is www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin. Enter your username and password. The username and password was provided when you installed WordPress in the last section either through Quick Install or Fantastico.
Once logged in, on the left side of the Dashboard, you're going to go to Settings and then click the General option.
Things To Change
Adjust the Tagline to a little snippet about what you're website is about. For my site, I used: "Helping The Web Get Rid Of Skin Tags Quickly." It can really be anything, although you don't want to make it too long -- a short, sweet little blurb about what your site.
For WordPress Address (URL), you can optionally have the www at the beginning of your URL (example: http://www.banishskintags.com versus http://banishskintags.com). Just make sure that when you do link building in any of the steps to follow that you have the correct URL.
When complete, save the page.
Next go to Settings and then click the Writing option. Scroll down to the section titled "Update Services." In the box below, please paste the following sites:
2018 Update - You no longer have to modify the Google RPC link. Their new service handles it automatically for you. Just copy and paste the sites below into the box, and you are good to go!

There's one last thing that I want you to do, and it's pretty important.
Go to the Plugins on the left and then click the "Add New" option. Next, scroll to the right to where it says "Search Plugins," and type in the following: All In One SEO. Hit Search.
You want to install the plugin, and you can do that by clicking "Install Now." Confirm, then click "Activate Plugin."
There you have it. That's everything you need to do for the basic optimization.
In the next section I'm going to show you how to install, activate, and configure my custom Deadbeat Theme.
