First, We Pick A Product
Everything you've accomplished so far has prepared us for this moment. You selected a niche, then you setup and optimized WordPress, and you even installed The Deadbeat Theme. Now we're getting into the nitty-gritty, and we will create the most important page of your entire website.
All this page is going to be is a product review of a product you recommend. So it could be a bike, it could be a sporting mouthguard -- whatever it is, this page is where everyone is going to end up. You can consider it your storefront.
For my website, I'm only going to pick one skin tag removal product from Amazon. This makes it easier to get started. I just pick one product and focus the article on that.
What Makes A Product Ideal For Marketing?
We're going to use Amazon to help us find our product. Since I'm selling a skin tag product, I searched Amazon for "skin tag remover." I show you some of the results in the image below.
The Compound W Wart Remover has over 400 reviews, more than any other product. If we search this product in the Google Keyword Planner, we can see from the results there are a lot of searches. If a product has a thousand or more searches per month, I'm going to say it's a good product.
The number of reviews on Amazon and the Google Keyword Planner both tell us this is a top-selling product, but there is a problem. Even though this is a product everyone wants to use, since it only costs a little more than ten dollars, you won't earn much commission per sale. Commission on Amazon is based on a small percentage of the product price, so a $10 product will cut into your earnings. You're not going to earn a respectable amount of money. Let's keep looking.
The Wart and Mole Vanish product, however, will earn about six dollars per sale, and that is certainly better than Compound W. Now it may be that Compound W converts better, but you'll have to sell eight or nine of them just to make the same amount of money as if you sold the Wart and Mole Vanish solution to just one buyer.
The keyword planner tells us Wart and Mole Vanish has about 1,000 searches a month, so it's also a good product. The Compound W has about 3,000 searches, and so more people will be looking for that, but since your commssion per sale will be a lot less than with Wart and Mole Vanish, it's not the best product to promote.
Another product is Revitol Skin Tag Removal, and it is specifically for skin tags. In marketing, the more specific a product is to the problem it addresses, the more interest it is going to get. For example, if you have a sinus pressure headache, would you buy a generic headache reliever or would you buy the sinus headache reliever? Chances are you'll pick the latter because it more closely relates to your problem. Because Revitol is specifically for skin tags, it will probably convert better.
Not All Affiliate Networks Are Equal
If I were looking at price alone and I was promoting on Amazon, I would probably pick the Wart and Mole Vanish solution. However, if you look around, you can find other affiliate networks that offer the same products as Amazon where you'll get a higher commission rate.
For example, MarketHealth has the Revitol Skin Tag Removal product, and you'll earn $45 per sale as an affiliate. So instead of making a buck per sale by promoting Amazon, you will make 45 times that by promoting MarketHealth.
Amazon is a great affiliate site, and there are certain products only available on there. However, sometimes it's worth looking for alternative networks that will yield higher commissions for a given product.
Making $45 per sale is hard to pass up, so I'm going to promote Revitol Skin Tag Removal in my article.
Writing The Article
Now that the marketing theory is over, let's write an article about the Revitol Skin Tag Removal. We're going to try to get as many of the search keywords in the article as possible. I'm going to work the keywords, like "revitol skin tag removal cream" and "revitol skin tag removal reviews" into the article along with generic niche keywords like "skin tag treatment" and "skin tag removal."
The benefit of writing articles around keywords is that it's going to get you search engine traffic. When people come in from the search engines, they will be clicking your links and directed to Amazon and other networks, and that's where you are going to make your money.
We're going to write the first article to get people in the door and also to draw in people from other sources, too. The more traffic you can send through this page, the more money you're going to make.
